Hart Taxis – a brief history
In 2000 Roy and Angela Sheriff saw the need for local taxis for local people, and set up Winchfield Taxis in Hart District. Building on their success, they also formed Hart Taxis in 2003, and merged the two operations in 2004. With 24/7 service and over 30 drivers, Hart Taxis grew into the largest taxi company in Fleet and the Hart District, and the first taxi company in Hart to run a full electric vehicle.
Hart Taxis have always been at the centre of activity in Fleet and Hart, sponsoring local events such as the Fleet Carnival, Hartley Wintney Festival, Children’s Film Society, Hartley Wintney Cricket Club, Fleet Half Marathon and Fleet Football Club.
In 2019 Hart Taxis teamed up with private hire company Your Local Car to share resources including backend technology, online booking, drivers, and friendly people to answer calls. The result was that both companies were able to take more people to where they needed to be, more often, and with a wider choice of taxis, electric vehicles, exec cars and minivans.
So when Roy and Angela decided to retire at the end of 2024, Your Local Car were delighted to add Hart Taxis as the latest member of their taxi firms group with virtually no changes (except a new logo and website!).
With over 100 drivers with their own clean, comfortable cars, plus a ‘pool’ fleet of 18 all-electric luxury cars, SUVs and minivans vehicles, Hart Taxis can now take more local customers further, in style and comfort.
